Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner Blakeway (Sex Again: Recharging Your Libido) shares how and why energy-based practices help the body to heal. As a certified acupuncturist and clinical herbalist heavily involved in the field, the author begins by honestly relating her long-standing doubts about the effectiveness of such treatments. She then delves into scientific research that supports energy healing, explaining her findings in an understandable and approachable way. Blakeway also seeks answers from other energy healers, connecting their practices with hard data. While much is learned on this journey, the author's conclusion is that some things about energy and healing remain a mystery. Note this work is not about how to use energy healing, as the practical applications are limited to short exercises at the end of each chapter. Rather, this is aimed at those who, like Blakeway, desire to understand these practices in action. Skeptics may remain unconvinced, but readers looking for scientific support will have plenty to work with. VERDICT Recommended where energy healing is a popular topic, but otherwise an optional purchase.—Anitra Gates, Erie Cty. P.L., PA
